Title: Database Administrator

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced MongoDB Database Administrator to design, deploy, manage, and optimize MongoDB clusters in a high-availability environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in MongoDB sharding, replica sets, authentication, performance tuning, and migrations, with a focus on scalability and security.

Key Responsibilities:

MongoDB Cluster Management:

• Design, install, and configure multi-node MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets on Linux platforms.
• Add or remove replica and shard nodes as needed to optimize performance.
• Convert replica sets to sharded clusters to handle data growth and query optimization.
• Perform MongoDB upgrades and migrations for both replica sets and sharded clusters.

Security & Authentication:

• Configure SSL key files to secure MongoDB instances.
• Implement authentication & authorization best practices, including X.509 authentication.
• Manage user roles and access control within MongoDB.

Performance Tuning & Monitoring:

• Monitor and optimize MongoDB query plans for better performance.
• Tune performance at both host and database levels.
• Manage slow secondary sync, WiredTiger cache, and oplog size tuning.
• Utilize MongoDB Ops Manager for monitoring and performance analysis.

Data Management & Backup:

• Perform MongoDB migrations to AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Manage MongoDump & MongoRestore for backup and recovery.
• Implement sharding strategies (range-based and hash-based sharding).

High Availability & Scalability:

• Ensure MongoDB high availability (HA) using replica sets and sharded clusters.
• Work with Arbiters for HA and oplog management.
• Scale MongoDB clusters across data centers.
• Troubleshoot read/write ticket issues in MongoDB.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Expertise in MongoDB administration, sharding, replication, and scaling.
• Strong knowledge of Ops Manager, authentication & authorization, and MongoDB HA strategies.
• Experience in query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting MongoDB issues.
• Hands-on experience in AWS cloud migration for MongoDB clusters.
• Proficiency in Linux-based MongoDB deployments.
• Experience with SSL configuration and security best practices.
• Strong knowledge of MongoDB indexing, WiredTiger storage engine, and oplog management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MongoDB certification (e.g., MongoDB DBA Associate/Professional).
• Experience with other NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with automation tools for database management.
