Wage Associate I: $18.00-$20.00/Hour
Schedule: M – F, 8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.

Description:
The Shipping and Receiving Associate will accept and process inbound shipments. Verify delivered items, unload trucks, ensure items are stored correctly, and process returns. Loads outbound trucks to instruction specification and securely to prevent shifting or damage in transit. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials. Ultimately, should be able to ensure efficient shipping and receiving processes and promptly resolve any problems or discrepancies. Contributes to building a positive team spirit and supports everyone’s efforts to succeed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Loading outbound trucks and unloading inbound trucks.
- As shipments of new lumber come into the yard, team members unload trucks, organize and store received items in appropriate areas.
- Inspecting deliveries to ensure they match order and invoice criteria.
- Inspects all incoming products for damage.
- Processing returns for incorrect or unsatisfactory items.
- Receives loading instructions, then loads trucks and verifies the accuracy of lumber materials to be delivered. Providing safe and timely loading.
- Responsible for maintaining professional attitude, good conduct, and appearance.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner by working with team members and/or managers to resolve challenges.

- Perform routine inspections on equipment, tools, and machine, and notify maintenance team and supervisor when maintenance is needed.
- Oversees the maintenance and cleanliness of the yard, ensuring that stacks of wood stay neat and that the yard has a clean appearance.
- Work towards having product knowledge to answer questions accurately.
- Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
- Communicate and coordinate with managers, supervisors, maintenance, and peers.
- Know and follow safety requirements for safe operation of all forklifts onsite.
- Safely move products around the warehouse or facility to support production flow.
- Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, or boxes and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
- Handles and completes paperwork as required, including bill of ladings (BOLs) and material consumption sheets.
- Loads and unloads flatbed and box vans as needed.
- Using proper ergonomics to perform general physical activities to stack lumber, lift lumber, mounting and dismounting of forklifts/35,000lb forklift (Big Red).
- Because of the physical nature of the job, the associate must be physically fit and able to lift or move heavy loads.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills & Experience:
· Required to work outside in all Montana weather conditions – SmartLam provides rain and cold weather gear.
· Forklift certified preferred, but willing to train.
· A valid driver's license, and good driving record.
· Must have basic math skills.
· Previous warehouse experience.
· Familiarity with shipping/receiving practices and handling methods.
· Attention to detail.
· Good communication and organizational skills.
· Good understanding of warehouse safety regulations
· Commitment to excellence and high standards.
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Reliable individual with an excellent time and attendance record.
· High school diploma/GED.
To be successful in this position, the duties and responsibilities must be performed on-site, remote work is not available.
