SmartTalent is looking to hire Diesel Mechanic for a fleet maintenance, fabrication and repair for the truck, trailer, tank or automotive industry. Ideal candidate will be motivated to work full time and have 2 years’ experience in diesel mechanic maintenance (details below).
PAY: $35 - $38 DOE

Summary/Objective:
Diesel or Automotive Mechanics who will be responsible for performing timely repair and preventive maintenance on variety of medium to Heavy duty vehicles and equipment. This position is well-suited for an experienced dealership truck or automotive maintenance mechanic. The job includes repair and maintenance as well as up-fitting and preparing new vehicles for service.
Job Duties:
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair all types of gas and diesel engines.
• Perform repairs and diagnostics on a variety of brake systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair and replace suspension and electrical repairs to various front end suspension components, various steering system components, electrical and light problems and charging system components including battery.
• Operate mechanical and electronic testing equipment to troubleshoot and repair systems.
• Provide technical assistance, direction and advice to other workers, and give guidance on complex mechanical repair projects.
• Repair and maintain shop tools and machinery.
• Read and Interpret vehicle repair manuals, electric and hydraulic schematics and illustrated parts diagrams.
• Up-fit and prepare new vehicles for service.
Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills:
Medium & Heavy Duty Mechanics must be familiar with all aspects of vehicle operation and must understand the functions of the major components and systems. They must have good analytical skills to diagnose problems and make decisions about the most suitable repairs. Mechanics need good interpersonal skills to discuss vehicle problems and solutions with customers, peers, and supervisors/managers.
The most competitive applicants for this position will have:
• Min 2 years’ experience or Journey status AND four years of full-time mechanical work experience repairing gas and diesel engines OR completion of vocational or technical school training in diesel or auto mechanics OR a recognized diesel or auto mechanics apprenticeship program.
• Possession of a valid Washington State driver's license. Having a CDL is beneficial.
• Effective communication with a variety of different customers, peers, managers and supervisors.
• Ability to use automated computer system to document maintenance, repairs, problems on work orders.
• Knowledge of shop safety rules, procedures, and equipment use.
• Ability to have predictable and reliable good attendance.
• Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
• Repairing engines is not a requirement
