What are the responsibilities and job description for the Active News Trader position at SMB Capital?
Kershner Trading Group / SMB Capital is looking to fill a position for an Active News Trader in our midtown Manhattan office in New York City.
The position is for a trader who would specialize in reacting to headlines as they break on the Bloomberg terminal or from other news sources. Preference will be given to applicants with a track record, particularly those applicants with a track record of trading breaking news. We are also open to applicants with less experience who are coachable and who have experience actively trading news plays.
The role is directly on the firm's proprietary trading desk in midtown Manhattan and will receive support from junior traders on the desk in collaborative projects. We offer extensive technology support to build filters, scripts, and automated models so as to most effectively capture edge in markets. For those interested in automated trading, the firm has built proprietary technology for traders to backtest, forward test, and run live models from your desktop.
Experienced candidates will have the opportunity to build a Team and share in the success of junior traders. The right candidate will be able to hire junior traders directly onto their Team; moreover, the firm regularly recruits and trains traders who can also be a source for future Team members. The firm provides large trading accounts for its best traders, top technology, and all the resources traders need to grow, while taking all of the downside risk. Candidates will have access to other experienced 7-figure traders to share ideas and explore other strategies.
