The anticipated salary range for this role is between $142,000.00 and $196,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
The Data Architect is a part of the Data Management’s Design & Development group within JRI-A and is responsible for designing, building, deploying, and maintaining the Data Services Layer using the Denodo development tool.
SCOPE
The Data Architect designs, develops, maintains, and supports the data virtualization solutions for the Data Services Layer using Denodo. The incumbent will have expertise in leveraging Denodo to deliver enterprise-wide data access while integrating seamlessly with Azure-based platforms. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to create scalable and secure data solutions that support business objectives. Reports to the Team Leader. Has no direct / indirect reports.
Takes full ownership of one or more projects primarily focused on developing integration solutions for multiple projects. This role executes deliverables with minimal supervision applying standard operating procedures as well as technical expertise to unique sets of facts, refers more complex matters to supervisors or other experienced staff.
Role Objectives
The job responsibilities are described herein :
Performs analysis and design of the business requirements and specifications as required.
Design, Develop, and deploy Denodo data virtualization solutions.
Create, and manage data views, performance optimizations, and caching strategies.
Works with various application team members to obtain the requirements for their development work.
Configure Denodo to integrate with various data sources, including relational databases, cloud platforms, and APIs.
Ensure security, scalability, and performance of Denodo in a cloud-based environment.
Leverage Azure services like ADF and Databricks to enable seamless data integration.
Creates documentation for the processes that they developed as well as updates documentation for the processes that they modified.
Performs peer code reviews including verification of compliance with coding standards and ensures that the code they developed adheres to coding standards and functional / technical specifications.
Implement data security, governance, and
Coordinates code promotion activities through all SDLC environments and validates that promoted interface code is working as expected.
Assists QA team with identifying QA test cases and supports them during QA testing.
Updates team leader and project manager with status of assigned development / project work.
Troubleshoots production issues independently and assists in timely resolution of incidents.
Supports weekend maintenance, technology / business recovery tests and system verification / validation events.
Keeps up to date on new features and enhancements in the development tools used by the team.
Qualifications and Skills
Education : Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience :
5 years of hands-on experience with Denodo platform.
Strong experience with Azure cloud services (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, etc.)
Experience in data integration, data modeling, and SQL development.
Proficiency in SQL, JDBC, ODBC, and other data connection protocols.
Familiarity with REST APIs, SOAP services, and web service integrations.
