Job Summary: Research, recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls while providing assistance to project leaders, or, when directed, manage projects from concept through manufacturing launch for new or revised projects.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research, recommend and implement process improvements and corrective actions to include automation and equipment improvements as assigned.
- Research, plan, design and develop manufacturing processes maximizing efficiencies, analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods and work force utilization.
- Support the manufacturing launch of new and/or revised products.
- Provide support to other departments as required.
- Improve overall process and related issues including process development, scheduling, creating process documentation, product assembly, production processing, and problem solving.
- Support the creation, documenting, developing and implementing of procedures used to manufacture all products including IQ, OQ, PQ protocols.
- Design, develop and test various machinery and equipment for manufacturing methods.
- Review first time samples on new tools with the Mold Technician, Project Engineer and Quality Assurance as required.
- Conduct and document time studies to establish performance standards.
- Review product cost requests for cost estimates on changes.
- Inform production control of any existing issues on production jobs that may affect customer orders.
Essential Qualifications:
- Currently in or recently completed an accredited academic program working towards a B.S. in an Engineering or Plastics related discipline.
- Demonstrated success in appropriate academic classes through grades of 3.0 or above in core courses.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills as demonstrated through campus involvement.
- Strong team player.
- Computer proficiency and classes in technologies that apply to Engineering and Plastic Injection Molding.
ADA Requirements:
- Stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, reach or otherwise move frequently
- Occasional repetitive motion and grasping
- Occasional climbing to reach areas on machines or racks
- Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently
- Typically sits, grasps items or performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer
- Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards which may require respiratory protection
