Job Summary: The Assistant Delivery Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery operations and team, including route optimization, driver management, and communication with internal teams. This role ensures efficient, timely, and cost-effective delivery services while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 1pm-Midnight (could be subject to change to accommodate departmental needs)
Key Responsibilities:
· Route & Fleet Management:
- Optimize delivery routes to reduce the hours of service (HOS) for troubled routes.
- Track and analyze delivery stops and times to enable route efficiency.
- Review vehicle fleet performance and manage truck breakdowns, roadside assistance, and maintenance coordination.
· Driver Management & Training:
- Assist with driver training, onboarding, and road testing.
- Conduct driver meetings quarterly and implement and assist with ongoing coaching and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct daily check-in with drivers during loadout.
- Track and enforce driver uniform policies.
- Ensure drivers comply with DOT requirements.
- Assist with driver audits and error reporting.
- Check in with drivers during their route to ensure route completion and re-enforce a positive driver/delivery culture
· Delivery Operations & Coordination:
- Communicate delivery changes to Customer Service (CS) and management (route changes, driver availability, vehicle issues, etc.).
- Assist with coordinating daily re-deliveries.
- Ensure delivery schedules are updated daily and communicated weekly.
- Audit returning drivers to ensure all returns are properly accounted for.
- Complete weekly truck inspections for cleanliness.
- Support on the dock during driver loadout times.
· Communication & Compliance:
- Maintain open communication with drivers to address concerns and prevent operational issues.
- Assist with handling vehicle accident reports and insurance claims when needed.
- Assist with handling citations/moving violations from the delivery department staff.
- Ensure drivers are informed of any new product changes to prevent delivery errors.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Proven experience in delivery operations.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of route planning and optimization.
- Experience with driver training, auditing, and compliance enforcement.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet maintenance best practices.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Paylocity, routing systems).
- The ability to occasionally go out on the road to assist drivers when there are issues.
- Clean driving history and able to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a high-volume delivery environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and keep the delivery department on track

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
