The Position Position Purpose
The Foundation Alumni Relations & Development Manager is a classified supervisory position reporting to the Foundation Executive Director. The incumbent optimizes the Foundation’s visibility among current and prospective donors and stewards the engagement of stakeholders, including alumni, faculty / staff, retirees, and campus-based clubs, departments, and organizations. The person also ensures exceptional stakeholder service, transparent fundraising support, and successful engagement events, activities, and campaigns.
General Description
The Foundation Alumni Relations & Development Manager is responsible, as a member of a team, for the successful execution of the Foundation’s strategic development goals, specifically the research, design, and implementation of fund development and stakeholder (alumni, faculty / staff, SMCCCD retirees, students, and campus-groups / departments / organizations) engagement strategies. Under the direction of the Foundation’s Executive Director, the position engages, develops, and stewards a pipeline of donors for the Foundation’s comprehensive campaigns. The incumbent also works with alumni, faculty / staff, SMCCCD retirees, campus groups / departments / organizations, and occasional givers to optimize their potential for annual, major, or planned gift donors. Finally, the Foundation Alumni Relations & Development Manager is the point person for campus groups / departments / organizations providing fund development expertise for fundraising initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities The Duties and Responsibilities are representative and not intended to cover all duties the incumbent performs. - Participate in the development of the annual development plan, identifying the implementation goals for the Foundation’s campaign donors and specific stakeholder audiences (alumni, faculty / staff, and SMCCCD retirees, and campus groups / departments / organizations.
- Design and implement strategies for the research, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship of campaign donors and stakeholder audiences (alumni, faculty / staff, SMCCCD retirees, and campus groups / departments / organizations) to optimize their potential for annual, major, or planned gifts.
- Conceptualize and project manage engagement and stewardship events to increase the Foundation’s visibility with leadership-level ($1, ) donors and Legacy Society members.
- Develop multi-platform annual giving programs to include all stakeholder audiences and track progress, measure fiscal results, collect donor metrics, and calculate the ROI with the goal of organizational agility, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Identify donor prospects (an annual portfolio of at least 50 individuals) from stakeholder audiences and create targeted approaches to optimize their potential for annual, major, or planned gifts and secure campaign gifts, new funds, and planned gift commitments in conjunction with other staff.
- Communicate regularly (briefing memos, proposals, thank you notes, written and oral updates, etc.) with assigned donors as a member of the Foundation’s donor stewardship team.
