What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Content Editor position at SME?
Responsible for producing and managing digital content across SME Media’s platforms, including websites, mobile apps, email newsletters, social media, podcasts, and webinars. This role focuses on executing multimedia content strategies, ensuring all materials are optimized for audience engagement and aligned with SME Media’s goals. The Digital Content Editor collaborates with internal teams to maintain consistent quality and contributes to the development of innovative digital experiences.
This role will be part of SME Media’s new Digital Growth Accelerator project being established to further research, development and growth around digital media platforms.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborates with teams across the organization to maintain and enhance digital media products and contribute to the development of new digital initiatives.
- Works closely with content, marketing and sales teams to create and schedule social media posts, driving website traffic and increasing audience engagement
- Uses web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to monitor, report, and improve website and social media posts in order to increase audience engagement.
- Generates and ensures digital optimization of various content types, including long-form features, news summaries, interviews, videos, podcasts, and graphics, to meet audience engagement goals.
- Monitors digital media trends and applies insights to improve content performance and support SME Media’s digital strategies.
- Manages content updates and functionality for websites, mobile apps, email newsletters, and other digital platforms, ensuring accurate reporting and performance tracking.
- Collaborates with content leadership to analyze and report on top-performing digital content, providing actionable insights to improve engagement.
- Creates and edits content for digital platforms, focusing on high-quality writing and editing to drive audience growth.
- Supports the project manager (digital) in training SME Media staff on the functionality and use of new digital platforms.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in digital media, marketing, journalism, communications or another related field.
- At least two (2) years of experience in content production, platform management, or multimedia creation within a digital publishing environment.
- At least two (2) years of hands-on experience managing content within a content management system (CMS), such as WordPress, including publishing, editing, and optimizing digital materials.
- At least two (2) years of experience using a web analytics tool to monitor traffic and trends. Experience in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) preferred.
- Demonstrate adaptability and initiative in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, with a willingness to help refine and improve workflows.
- Strong editing and proofreading skills, with an emphasis on digital content formatting and optimization, required.
- Demonstrated background and hands-on experience in digital publishing, including platform-specific optimization and audience engagement.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented, with a focus on ensuring accuracy and quality in digital content production
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
