What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Monitor position at SMEC?
The role
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and energized Field Monitor to join a leading infrastructure consultancy and contribute to the growth and development of a business with a reputation for technical excellence and strong client relationships.
Reports To
Senior Supervisor, Field Supervisor or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.
Primary Position Purpose
Primary duty of the GIPTN Field Monitoring staff is continuously monitor of all GIPTN vehicles and infrastructure using an electronic device to record data.
Key Responsibilities
- Must be willing to work flexible hours with shifts varying over 7 days per week between 04:30 to 22:00, although it will be ensured that relevant Labour Laws are adhered to.
Daily:
- Inspect a combined total of at least 20 buses each weekday
- Random checks of way-bill-bus-driver combination
- Extensive inspection of at least 2 routes (i.e. 2x round trips) per day
- Random inspections to confirm fares have been paid by passengers
- Undertake random and anonymous trips to observe driver behaviour and schedule adherence
- Report any transgressions to Field Supervisor/Control Room staff
Weekly:
- Inspect all buses during the course of a week (unless out of service) in terms of prescribed inspection forms
- Inspect bus stops and terminus infrastructure daily to ensure all infrastructure ( -700 bus stops) is inspected during course of a week.
- Route utilisation counts in accordance with overall usage monitoring plan
