What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Tech (Phone Nurse) - Fountain City Family Physicians position at SMG Brand?
Fountain City Family Physicians, a division of Summit Medical Group, is seeking a Pharmacy Tech to work as a Phone Nurse under the supervision of the RN Supervisor. The ideal candidate will review electronic refill requests and assign them to the appropriate provider.
This is a Full time opportunity.
- Look for duplications and errors to ensure that multiple prescriptions are not processed
- Process electronic, faxed, and patient requested refill requests following the practices refill policies and guidelines.
- Call the patient or pharmacy for drug information, if there are any questions regarding the refill request.
- Input processes request into patient medical record and ensure patient chart is and medication history is up to date.
- Call patients with any prescription denials.
- Schedule patients who are due for appointments or who the provider is requiring patient to be seen before refill is process.
- Process all medication prior authorizations.
- Consults with the RN Supervisor and/or other health team members, seek guidance, as necessary.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality both internally and externally.
- Adheres to expectations of the established corporate compliance plan.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Actively participates in site-level Quality Improvement Activities. Each employee will contribute to the continual evaluation site performance as well as the implementation and measurement of improvement activities that increase the quality of care provided to patients.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required.
Certification / License:
State of TN Pharmacy Tech License (Required), Certified Pharmacy Technician certification from PTCB (Required
Experience:
One to three years of experience in a clinical setting or medical office, preferably experience working with patient medication assistance programs.
• Prior experience with disease management, population health management, or other related health care environments.
• Must be PC literate with basic knowledge of Windows & Microsoft
