What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Officer - Nightlife & Special Events - On Call position at SMGHA Nevada, LLC?
Role and Responsibilities:
Responsible for monitoring and patrolling assigned areas to provide safe environment for guests and employees.
Enforce safety policies and procedures in their area of responsibility to ensure a safe environment for all guests and employees.
Standing post to monitor and observe persons and activities on property or nightlife / entertainment venues to ensure compliance with applicable laws and Palms Casino Resort policies.
Minimize opportunities for loss or damage, anticipating potential problems, responding to incidents, and prohibited conduct.
Respond to emergency situations as needed.
Be observant of possible criminal activities, advising management and/or local law enforcement.
Work and communicate clearly with staff in multiple departments and/or agencies.
Troubleshoot potential problems, seeking resolution discreetly and professionally.
Adhere to and enforce company specific safety policies.
Identification checks of all guests, restricts access to areas prohibited to guests.
Complete written reports in compliance with departmental procedures and makes oral reports as needed. Must have the ability to write detailed, concise, and accurate reports.
Locates, collects, handles, and preserves physical evidence as needed.
Conduct arrests and searches within the guidelines of applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
May be asked to assist other team members on major incidents and complex situations where their experience is required.
Checks interior of event venues for unusual signs, which might indicate illegal entry and/or activity, and speaks to occupants/visitors to assure that everything is in order.
Responds to emergencies such as fires, injuries, accidents, robberies, intrusion alarms, bomb, and other threats and initiates immediate action to control the incident.
Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and assumes other responsibilities, duties, tasks, and assignments that contribute to the mitigation or response to any public health emergency.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must have a government-issued ID.
Must obtain a TAM Card.
Must obtain a Nevada Gaming License.
Must be able to use a Fire Extinguisher.
The Nightlife & Entertainment Security Officer may be required to successfully complete a TASER Certification Course; carry and maintain proficiency in the use of the equipment.
Prior experience in event or entertainment security preferred.
Must understand and comply with all company, departmental, and Gaming Control Board rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Must be able to use a Fire Extinguisher.
Must be able to read, speak, and write intelligently in the English language. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions:
The physical demands and working environment described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Work indoors and/or outdoors, exposed to excessive heat, hot and/or cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors in a nightclub, Bar, lounge, theater and or restaurant.
Work varied shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, crowds and smoke, the severity of which depends upon Guest volume.
Strength sufficient to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 70 pounds occasionally.
Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Must be able to pass an annual hearing test.
Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, and over the telephone and two way radio.
Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing surveillance video, working at a computer terminal; expansive reading, and visual inspection of employees, visitors, or facility.
Mobility sufficient to safely walk, stoop, bend and kneel.
Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
Team Member may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
