The Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining the integrity of systems including customer-facing, hosted and cloud environments. They will provide expert technical assistance to team members with high-level system and networking requests. This role will be responsible for implementing and testing complex infrastructure in support of our customer needs.
As a member of the Infrastructure Team, the Systems Engineer will provide onsite and remote support to our clients who have critical response time requirements for their business technology systems. This individual will work independently and as part of a team to analyze technical issues, address escalations, work with the project manager on team related projects, and troubleshoot over the phone / onsite / via remote access.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Selecting the best possible solutions using knowledge of a wide range of available technologies.
- Assist with monitoring system security to protect against external, internal, and / or programmatic attacks.
- Remote monitoring and management of system alerts and notifications.
- Installing and configuring operating systems and application software.
- Implementing best practices for system security and data backups.
- Develop, implement, and maintain documentation for policies, procedures, and associated training plans for system administration, configuration, usage, network mapping, and disaster recovery.
- Suggest improvements to system performance, capacity, and scalability.
- Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated.
- Demonstrates competency in the performance of job-related skills appropriate to his / her customer populations and departmental services while providing excellent customer service.
- Liaising with vendors and keeping relevant stakeholders up to date with developments.
- Adheres to policies, procedures, guidelines relative to departmental operations.
