Reports to: Vice President, Community Development
Summary/Objective:
The Associate will oversee Smile Train’s DIY fundraising program by working closely with individual supporters as they design and implement successful events which engage their networks. This role will also support Smile Train’s Young Leadership Circle (YLC), a group of graduate students and young professionals committed to supporting Smile Train’s programs. The YLC holds fundraising events and educational programs throughout the year and members have the unique opportunity to work with Smile Train’s staff to develop the group’s long-term fundraising strategies.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about project management, peer to peer fundraising, donor relations, and stewardship.
Responsibilities:
· Manage Smile Train’s DIY fundraising program.
o Respond promptly to supporter inquiries through various channels, ensuring that supporters are communicated with courteously and promptly by telephone, email, or mail.
o Support individuals, community groups, schools, and small businesses in their fundraising efforts. Provide personalized guidance about event logistics, fundraising platform management, volunteer recruitment, and event operations.
o Liaise with Smile Train’s Communications team to craft and share relevant stories with external audiences.
o Process donations and acknowledgements following Smile Train processes.
· Working closely with Senior Manager, Community Development, provide administrative and fundraising support for the YLC including onboarding, supporter communication, committee management, and assistance with both planning and staffing meetings, events, and conferences.
o Application and onboarding: Submit necessary web requests to launch the annual YLC application as well as associated promotion (email, social, individual outreach, etc.). Support with onboarding processes.
o Program management: Support prep for, and attend, quarterly meetings. Develop copy for monthly emails to group including ST program updates and volunteer opportunities.
o Fundraising support: On a monthly basis, track fundraising progress of all YLC members. Along with Senior Manager, ensure that members are meeting their fundraising goals and that they have the tools and resources they need to be successful.
o Event management: Provide administrative support for events including (but not limited to): invoice processing and payments, contract approvals, collateral development, promotion and fundraising/ticket sales.
· Track and report on fundraising progress of the DIY and YLC fundraising programs. Provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
· Participate in planning and brainstorming sessions with the Community Development team.
· Supporting with additional administrative, events, and tasks related to community fundraising as determined.
Preferred Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree
· 1–3-year relevant experience. Experience in fundraising and/or event planning strongly preferred.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
· Excellent project management and organizational skills
· Proficient with MS Office Suite.
· Experience with Salesforce or other CRM preferred.
· A flexible schedule and ability to staff events that occur outside of business hours, including nights and weekends, is a requirement.
