We are currently looking to add an Orthodontic Assistant to our growing office. An Orthodontic Assistant’s priority is excellent patient care. This job requires an outgoing, energetic personality. You determine the patient’s overall experience in our office. Your job requires attention to detail and accuracy. You are executing the treatment plan provided by the doctor. It is crucial that you listen to the doctor’s directions, perform the procedure correctly, and efficiently, and accurately document the patient’s chart.

DUTIES:
The Technician is responsible for assisting the orthodontist in clinical treatment of patients. The Technician is also responsible for the cleanliness of the clinical area, sterilization of instruments and stocking all the clinical supplies. As well as regularly cleaning and maintaining the equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
*Cleaning and preparation of units/chairs before each patient.
*Greet and seat patients, never leaving a seated patient unattended.
*Always anticipate and assist the orthodontist’s needs.
*Charting of patient procedures to include charges (if applicable), procedure and length of time for next visit.
*Dismissal of patient and explanation of procedure to parent with review of progress.
*Radiographs to include panoramic, cephalometric and CBCT.
*Placement and removal of separator
*Utilizing intraoral scanner (iTero)
*Checking all patient appliances prior to adjustment or wire changes
*Intraoral and extraoral photographs
*Changing archwires or ligature ties
*Processing of all x-rays
*Deliver retainers and other removable appliances
*Adjustment of removable appliances
*Banding and bonding procedures
*Debanding/debonding procedures
*Removal of bonding materials
*Working with Aligner therapy
*Give patient instruction for cooperation and motivation throughout the course of treatment
*Re-cementing loose bands/rebonding of loose brackets
*Documentation of all communication and procedures in patient chart
*Fitting of headgear and preformed appliances
*In-House fabrication of Essix (retainers)
*Use of 3D printers and software
*Cleaning and replenishing of x-ray equipment
*Preparing bracket setups
*Sterilization of instruments
*Perform other tasks as assigned by the orthodontist(s)
Qualifications
*Proficient in chairside assisting and dental terminology
*Knowledge of orthodontic techniques and anatomy
*Familiarity with EMR systems; Ortho Edge
*Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality
*Ability to perform cleaning and maintenance of dental equipment
