The Insurance Coordinator is responsible for inputting all insurance profiles (medical and dental) into patient charts in the practice Electronic system. Additionally, the Insurance Coordinator will obtain a breakdown of benefits from the patient’s insurance company. This individual will input Insurance benefits into the system and notate all benefit and coverage estimates in each patient’s chart prior to the patients’ initial consultation with the doctor. The Insurance coordination will also be responsible assuring insurance claims go out correctly and assisting on outstanding insurance claims.
- Computer skills including practice management software
- Familiarity with dental insurance protocols
- Familiarity with ADA Dental codes
- Ability to function within a team environment and be a supportive and positive contributor
- Ability to market the practice
- Superb verbal skills with, insurance companies, third party companies and team
- Ability to take direction for personal improvement
- Overall comprehension of practice vision, mission and systems
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment regarding coverage and insurance estimates.
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist parents with scheduling and answering insurance questions
- Assist front office team members with presenting treatment plans and scheduling dental appointments
- Excellent computer skills and ability to use practice software systems.
- Specialized understanding and experience in handling insurance matters in a medical setting.
- Actively pursues provision of excellent customer service.
- Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
- Must be able to comfortably and efficiently handle multiple deadlines and task assignments.
- Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings.
- Must maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies.
