A successful and rapidly growing publicly traded company is seeking to hire a talented Senior Cost Accountant to be responsible for analyzing, processing, and reporting on transactions principally involving fixed assets, inventory, general ledger, and machine costing. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs. Title: Cost Accountant
Location: Fairfield, CT (Hybrid)
Salary: $90,000 to $110,000 Bonus
Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities for the Cost Accountant will include planning, analyzing, and collecting data to determine the costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
- Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Applying overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Assisting planners with closing production orders and developing reporting machine costs quarterly.
- Collaborating with engineering, product management, and purchasing regarding cost development of new machines.
- Managing automation projects book and reconciling revenue recognition based on monthly validation costs.
- Establishing and maintaining internal projects for new product initiatives.
- Providing support to engineering to ensure labor hours are being booked to projects accurately.
- Calculating, entering, and posting transactions to the SAP General Ledger.
- Providing supporting schedules, reconciliations, and roll-forward worksheets for various General Ledger Accounts.
- Coordinating, processing, and analyzing production data monthly from ERP SAP system.
- Assisting with audits and the reconciliation of physical inventories with operations.
- Performing special projects as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Business Administration, MBA is a plus.
- 3-5 years plus years of relevant experience in cost accounting.
- CMA designation desired.
- Knowledge or experience in SAP is a plus.
- Strong experience working with MS Office (Excel).
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
