Service Advisor/ Parts Clerk

Smith Boys, a privately-owned boat dealership and service facility on Chautauqua lake in Ashville, NY is looking for a service writer / advisor to join our team. This position requires the applicant to be outgoing, friendly, detailed and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment. The ideal applicant should have knowledge of marine or automotive service department procedures and familiarity of boats and related marine products.

Smith Boys is a family owned, well established boat service and sales dealership. We sell Sea Ray boats, Crownline boats, Bayliner Boats, Berkshire Pontoon boats, Starcraft deck and pontoon boats, Smoker craft boats, Malibu and Axis Ski boats as well as a wide assortment of pre-owned boats.

Work Hours: During our boating season (spring/summer/early fall) 5 to 6 days a week. late fall and winter are reduced hours.

Responsibilities of the Service Writer/Advisor:

• Respond to in-person, telephone and electronic mail requests from customers for service, warranty and other marine related issues.
• Open and close work orders for customer requested service
• Parts department stocking, ordering and inventory maintenance.
• Process, submit and monitor manufacturer warranty claims.
• Process, monitor and coordinate manufacturer service bulletins and recall service directives.
• Organize marine technicians
• Hiring required support staff

Skills and Qualifications Desired:

• Automotive and/or marine service experience required (minimum of 3 years)
• Warranty/insurance claim experience (min 1 year)
• Marine/automotive technician experience not required but preferred
• Parts experience helpful
• Knowledge of Windows based computers and software.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Operation of general office equipment
• Multi-tasking (ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously)
• Prioritization, and the ability to adjust work as the need arises.
• Boats and marine environment knowledge would be very helpful.

Salary:

This is a full-time position. The rate of pay is dependent upon the level of experience, education and knowledge the applicant has.
