Position title: Full or Part Time Peer Support Specialist
Program Overview: The Peer Support Specialist Program offers advocacy, education, emotional support, mentoring and motivation to assist youth in recovery from a mental health and/or substance use disorder. The Peer Support Specialist utilizes their lived experience, training and education in order to help others.
Required Qualifications:
· Eligible for certification as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) with the Florida Certification Board in one of the following areas:
o Adult (A): Lived experience as an adult in recovery for a minimum of 2-years from a mental health and/or substance use condition.
o Family (F): Lived experience as a family member or caregiver to another person who is living with a mental health and/or substance use condition.
o Youth (Y): Are between the ages of 18 and 29 at the time of application and have lived experience as a person who, between the ages of 14 and 25 experienced a significant life challenge and is now living a wellness and/or recovery-oriented lifestyle for at least two years.
· High school diploma and minimum one year of related experience required.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license with access to reliable transportation and car insurance. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
· Evening and weekend availability (schedule is flexible).
· Computer and electronic records proficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Support clients by using their own lived experience and skills learned in training to help clients achieve and maintain recovery and wellness from mental health and/or substance use conditions.
· Participate in treatment team by collaborating with therapist, case manager, psychiatrist and other service providers.
· Comply with HIPAA and Data Privacy Practices.
· Positively represent agency, program and participant needs.
· Maintain established standards for direct client contact and complete documentation for services within established timeframes.
· Maintain client confidentiality according to established policies, federal and state statutes, as evidenced by obtaining needed releases of information and maintaining updated releases of information.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $31,000.00 - $34,000.00 per year
