Crew Leader

This position is for overseeing and operating the PIT / Recycle Center. You will also be responsible for leading and managing all work at the Smith County. In this position you will manage inventory of materials inbound and outbound at the Smith County Recycle Center. Along fulfill other duties as required by Smith County Road and Bridge.

• Inspects roads while in route to and from job site and reports problems to supervisors 
• Maintains records on materials and equipment used and employee time sheets.
• Operate light, heavy and specialized roadway equipment.
• Collects and posts completed job data including, but not limited to, labor and equipment time, and materials ordered, used, stockpiled or returned.
• Trains employees in the use of equipment and procedures.
• May be responsible for prioritizing operations in absence of supervisor.
• Loading and Unloading trucks with all materials required by the roadway operations
• Must follow TCEQ Guidelines

• Specialized and proficient in the operation of all light and at least three (3) heavy equipment. Examples Gradall, Excavator, Paver, Backhoe, Motor-grader
• **Field testing of heavy equipment may be a requirement prior to final hiring. *
• Knowledge of mixing materials to produce a material suitable for roadway use.
• Knowledge of roadway oils / emulsions and the application of.
• Knowledge of the stormwater management site requirements 
• Knowledge of TCEQ Burning requirements and notification procedures
• Must be able to give and follow written and oral instructions. 
• Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.

GED or High school equivalent 
Work Experience

• 5 years in Roadway maintenance,
• 5 yrs. Proficient Operation of Heavy earth moving equipment 
• 5 yrs. supervision experience.
• Related work (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated part-time equivalent)
• Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year-per-year basis.

Licenses and Certifications

• Must have a Commercial Driver License, Class A CDL at the time of application submission.

Physical Requirements

• Subject to outside environmental conditions. Rain Snow, Extreme cold and heat; below 32 and/or above 100 degrees for more than one hour
• Subject to noise, ensure that employees are wearing appropriate PPE
• Subject to hazards-moving mechanical parts, traffic, elevated heights are some but not limited to all exposers working in roadway maintenance and construction.
• Work in cramped spaces (bend, stoop, crawl) and at varied heights
• Lift to 50 lbs. at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 25 lbs.
• Standing-prolonged periods of time
• Walking-moving on foot to accomplish tasks: walking long distance within work area.
• Operating motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment safely and efficiently

Salary : $62,475 - $66,280
