This full time position is responsible for providing care for sheltered animals, treating them with kindness and respect, and socializing with the animals in order to make them more adoptable. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for sheltered animals.The Kennel Technician should enjoy working with dogs.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Perform daily cleaning of kennels, cages and public areas, following proper disease control protocol to ensure a disinfected environment.Provides each animal with food and water following approved feeding protocols.Washes food and water bowls and puts them away in an orderly fashion.Helps with washing, drying and folding of laundry.Will administer vaccines and medications.Bath dogs as needed for cleanliness and medication.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
High School diploma or G.E.D.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentDaily standing for long periods, walking, squatting, bending, pulling and reaching. Must be able to lift, move or carry animals or objects weight up to 100 pounds, and use strong chemicals for disinfecting kennels.Majority of work will take place in an indoor environment with exposure to continuous elevated noise levels and strong odors.
