What are the responsibilities and job description for the Office Clerk position at Smith County?
This is a great opportunity for a college student to get experience in a busy law office performing clerical duties including but not limited to typing, filing, scanning and completion of simple forms. Greeting the public that comes into the office, answering phones and directing calls to the appropriate individuals. Operating office machines, including but not limited to copiers, scanners, and fax machines. There is frequent lifting of boxes and use of dollies and other tasks that may be assigned.
Our normal business hours are 8am-5pm M-F, and this position requires you to be available for at least 25-29 hours a week.

- Must be able to work well under pressure
- Follow directions and help when needed with general clerical duties, and other tasks in the office.
- This includes, but is not limited to, copying, filing, shredding, answering phones, scanning, data-entry, light cleaning, and stocking.
- You must be able to maintain a multi-line phone for a busy office when needed, along with greeting the public that comes in and out of the office.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Must be dependable, punctual, organized, reliable, detail oriented, self-motivated and a team player.
- Must be able to maintain a courteous and professional attitude with the public and co-workers, both in person and over the phone.
- High School Graduate or equivalent
