Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with a strong background in mid-range commercial construction. The ideal candidate will bring 10 years of experience in estimating projects for Fortune 500 clients, with a focus on Healthcare facilities, Data Centers, and other complex environments. As a critical member of our preconstruction team, you will help drive our competitive edge by preparing accurate, strategic, and compelling cost estimates for projects across the Eastern and Southeastern United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze construction documents (plans, specs, etc.) to develop detailed, competitive cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to gather accurate scope and pricing.
- Perform quantity take-offs, develop budgets, and prepare comprehensive bid proposals.
- Identify, qualify, and engage subcontractors to support project bids.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor proposals for completeness and compliance.
- Support project buyout and turnover processes to ensure seamless handoff to project management.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
- Maintain and update historical cost data for future estimating reference.
- Identify value engineering options and project risk factors.
- Partner with the Chief Estimator and Business Development team to support proposal development and RFP responses.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial construction estimating (mid-range projects).
- Experience working with Fortune 500 clients in Healthcare, Data Center, Retail, and Design-Build, Hard Bid, and Negotiated project environments.
- Proficiency with estimating tools such as PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, Excel, and client-specific platforms.
- Strong computer, Excel, and Word skills are essential.
- In-depth knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, building codes, and market pricing.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
