Job Overview
Smith Hawks, PL, the largest firm based in the Florida Keys, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our dynamic litigation group. The ideal candidate will have 2to 6 years’ of litigation experience, licensed to practice in Florida and must possess strong research, writing, organizational and analytical skills along with a strong work ethic. As an Associate Attorney, you will contribute to our firm’s mission of providing exceptional and efficient legal services to our clients with the resources and sophistication of a large firm combined with the individualized attention and responsiveness of a laid back boutique.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide counseling and legal services to clients in civil litigation matters
- Represent clients in State Circuit /County Court and Federal court
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Prepare for and attend court hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Negotiate settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution processes as needed.
- Maintain strong communication with clients, keeping them informed about case developments and legal options.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to provide comprehensive legal services.

- Strong proficiency in legal research techniques and tools.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear and concise legal documents.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a fast paced law office environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all legal work.
