We are seeking a Janitor to join our Maintenance Division.
This person will be responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that buildings and surrounding areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained. The Janitor will carry out cleaning duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner, ensuring that all areas meet hygiene and cleanliness standards.
Typical Functions:
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in offices, hallways, restrooms, and other areas.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, including furniture, countertops, and windowsills.
- Clean restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Empty trash cans and dispose of waste in designated disposal areas.
- Perform basic repairs, such as fixing broken fixtures, changing light bulbs, and reporting major repair needs.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Clean and maintain carpets, floors, and tiles, including stripping, waxing, and buffing as necessary.
- Ensure that all flooring is in a safe condition (e.g., removing slippery substances from the floor to avoid accidents).
- Follow safety protocols for handling cleaning chemicals and materials.
- Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Ensure that all areas comply with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment like vacuums, floor buffers, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
