What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool Room Hand position at Smith Industries, LLC?
General Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, above average communication and organizational skills. Above all must be a team player with high level of dedication. Piping and tester assembly, basic botting and tore experience.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand/walk up to 90% of the workday; occasional bending, squatting, ascending ladders/stairways, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds. Ability to assess weights and judge distance and heights is necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Issue tools, equipment, and supplies to employees as needed.
- Collect and inspect tools to ensure they are in proper condition.
- Request new tools or supplies when inventory is low.
- Completes the necessary training and safety requirements per Smith Industries, LLC company policy.
- Properly maintains all parts and equipment pertaining to specific work duties.
- Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedge or template to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Dismantles metal assemblies or cut scrap metal, using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment.
- Climbs ladders or works on scaffolding as required.
- Reports any problems promptly to Supervisor.
- Keeps work area clean by practicing good housekeeping procedures.
- Performs any task, assignment, or project assigned by Supervisor or lead welder.
