An Electrical Assembly Foreman at Smith and Loveless is responsible for supervising and coordinating the production of electrical assemblies for manufactured products. Experience reading wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and strong knowledge of electrical circuits, motor controls, control panels, etc. is necessary. Must be familiar with the National Electric Codes and the Underwriters Laboratories requirements. This position plays a key role in building UL 508A-compliant panels and enclosures for a wide range of industrial applications.
Qualifications
Skills/Requirements
- Associates degree in an electrical field or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5 years in a supervisory capacity (preferably union work environment).
- 3 years of experience in control panel assembly or electrical fabrication.
- Familiar with National Electric Code and the Underwriters Laboratories requirements.
- Proficient at reading wiring diagrams, engineering drawings.
- Proficiency working with 208V, 230V and 480V 3-Phase systems, as well as VDC controls.
- Solid knowledge of UL 508A and general safety practices.
- Ability to generate and interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring schedules.
- Familiarity with PLCs, relay logic, and low/high voltage systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a team-oriented mindset.
Job duties
- Lead and mentor the panel assembly team, ensuring adherence to UL 508A build standards.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings as well as associated mechanical assembly drawings.
- Supervise and participate in the layout, wiring, and assembly of electrical control panels.
- Supervise and participate in the layout and installation of conduit, cable tray, and wiring for equipment packages.
- Perform and document quality inspections to ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Collaborate with engineering and procurement for build coordination and material needs.
- Load and unload panel materials and complete units.
- Provide hands-on training and support to team members.
- Identify process improvement opportunities for efficiency and cost reduction.
- Participate in startup, troubleshooting, and field wiring support when required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the operation of the panel shop.
- Keep work area clean and safe.
