GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY: Operates semi-automatic and automatic machines.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Use cutting torch and welding equipment, cranes, portable power tools, drill press, ladders, scaffolds, hoists, hand tools and various other tools to effect repairs and improvements.
- Use troubleshooting equipment including temperature/pressure gauges, electronic/electrical testing devices and various other diagnostic equipment to ensure proper operation and repair.
- Works from verbal instructions, general and typical drawings, manufacturer's specifications, factory orders, job tickets, repair orders, etc.
- Plans working procedure and lays out work.
- Follows preventative maintenance procedures prescribed by management.
- Maintains necessary maintenance and production work records.
- Reports abnormal conditions to supervision.
- Operate and set-up lathes, mills, drill presses, and various hand tools for the purpose of producing metal parts to specific tolerances.
- Normally works alone, may direct assisting workmen and/or observe outside contractors doing maintenance for the company.
- Observes all safety rules and regulations and keeps work area: clean and orderly.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Keep work area neat and clean.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: None required, but Associates or technical degree in machining, welding, or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE: None required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES: Ability to read technical specifications, wiring schematics, and to use hand tools, troubleshooting devices, mechanical devices, welders, cranes/hoists and standard measuring tools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standing 75% of the day with occasional walking to all plant areas including the visual inspection of products in the yard. Climbing, crawling, kneeling and bending in awkward positions as consistent with working on, vehicles, plumbing, machinery or building maintenance. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to chest height. Frequent loading and unloading of parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
EQUIPMENT: Standard hand tools, measuring tools, semi-automatic and automatic machinery such as lathes, mills, drill presses, pressure/vacuum/temperature gauges, lifts, power tools, welders, diagnostic equipment. Two-way radio, safety glasses, safety shoes, PC, phone, digital camera, and other normal office equipment or tools as needed.
OTHER: Overtime as necessary.
