Description
Directs and manages the Quality Control Department of Smith-Carolina Corporation. Provides leadership, management and technical expertise to all of Smith-Carolina’s internal and external customers
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the day-to-day activities of the Quality Control department
- Maintains a safe work environment and promotes safe work practices
- Communicates company policies and procedures to the Quality Control technicians and adheres to them
- Creates and fosters a culture of Quality at all levels throughout the organization
- Maintains good standing with all external auditing agencies
- Organizes and maintains all office records and forms in good order (both electronic and hard copies)
- Ensures Quality System Manual is always current and updated to the latest standards
- Performs all required materials testing as established by the Quality System Manual meet or exceed customer expectations and mandated standards
- Develops outstanding, low-cost architectural and structural concrete mix designs
- Communicates with outside agencies and inspectors for all quality matters. Maintains good relationships and timeliness in filing required reports
- Keeps up-to-date with latest developments in concrete technology and R&D
- Conducts research on improving product Quality by using latest technology available in regard to mix designs and additives. Actively participates in the development of new products and supports the company R&D efforts.
- Participates in Continuous Improvement Activities throughout the year including leading Kaizan events
- Uses Standard Work and Standard Work auditing to ensure Quality Programs are maintained and continuously advanced
- Other related activities as required
Qualifications
- 10 years precast concrete quality control or manufacturing experience, including 5 years in architectural precast.
- ACI Levels I and II certifications and PCI Level III or equivalent
- Able to understand complex fabrication drawings
- Excellent leadership, organizational, communication and people skills
- Experienced/knowledgeable with Lean Manufacturing Principals
- Able to read and write reports
- Excellent knowledge of computers and electronic file management – Excel, Word, MS Project
