SUMMARY:
The paint prepper/blaster is responsible for abrading surfaces of metal or hard composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust and dirt, and to impart specified finish. |
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Places steel shot of specified grade into machine hopper
- Masks or covers specified areas of object to protect from abrading action
- Loads parts on racks in enclosed rooms
- Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle
- Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden compressed air over surface of parts
- Directs nozzle over surface of large parts
- Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications
- Recovers and prepares steel shot for reuse or disposal
- Uses a forklift to move trailers to various areas inside the production facility for continued assembly
- Sand and prep metal surfaces for paint
- Prepare parts for painting and assembly
- Perform quality control on all pieces sandblasted
- Understand and follow environmental health and safety policies
- Prepare for painting and protects painted surfaces from erosion
- Apply roll on paint or coating to the interior/exterior of assembled parts
- Properly disposing of paint
- General Housekeeping
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mechanically Inclined
- Ability to Read a Measuring Tape

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
TRAVEL

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
- This is a full-time position.
- Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Fridays 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays as needed from 6:00 a.m. to noon.
