Smithers Environmental Risk Sciences division is seeking applicants for a full-time Senior Scientist opportunity at our Wareham, MA location.

Responsibilities
- Ensure all work complies with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) regulatory requirements.
- Implement management directives quickly and efficiently.
- Review and sometimes write reports and provide training and mentorship to junior staff members.
- Serve as a study director within the Environmental Fate and Metabolism department.
- Direct and interpret data from a broad range of studies, ensuring accurate conduct of studies within regulatory guidelines, expected time frames, and budgets.
- Develop test systems, methods, and study designs for various standard Fate studies, including biotic/ abiotic degradation, mobility studies (e.g., hydrolysis, photolysis, and adsorption/desorption tests), and plant/ animal metabolism.
- Execute and troubleshoot designs while maintaining regulatory and customer requirements and timelines.
- Perform and understand all related tasks associated with the studies, including laboratory techniques, instrumentation troubleshooting, data record review, statistical data analysis, and technical writing/review of study reports.
- Communicates with Study Sponsors, peer groups, and regulatory agencies on behalf of Smithers and clients.
- Validate and develop new testing methodologies.
- Study Director for Fate and Metabolism Studies.
- Performs all laboratory testing for assigned studies, independently or with assistance
- Handle data and calculation of results.
- Supervise, manage, and train staff.
- Provide updates and summaries to program supervisors and clients.
- Interpret data and write reports.
- Support facility functions (e.g., Safety Committee, Hazardous Waste Committee, etc.).
- Align business goals with department processes through effective management and collaboration.
- Demonstrate excellent project management skills.
- Order instruments, chemicals, and supplies for the department.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or an equivalent combination of graduate-level education and experience.
- Experience with radiolabeled (mainly C-14) compounds.
- Familiarity with most study designs and methodologies in Environmental Fate and Plant and Animal Metabolism.
- Proven management and training/ coaching skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, data handling, statistical analyses, and technical writing and review.
