The East Providence School District is seeking a full-time MLL Family Service Coordinator responsible for assisting MLL and Newcomer families in building school knowledge and having access to community wraparound resources. The ideal candidate will be well integrated in the community and an advocate for MLL families. This role acts as a critical link between the home and school and between MLL families and other service providers. Duties include family contact, parent training, student check-ins, program development and community service outreach. The candidate must have flexibility to work some evenings for parent / community events.
- This is a full time grant funded position Salary Range : $45,000-$55,000 Education : Bachelor's Degree Social Work, Human Services OR Equivalent degree / combination of education and experience will be accepted Job responsibilities : Provide individual support, referrals and follow ups with MLL families Facilitate family sessions on MLL education and / or new arrival supports Liaison with social services and community organizations around wrap around supports Partner with family service agencies and community organizations to explore and implement initiatives enhancing services to MLL families Collaborate with advocacy groups to contribute to systemic improvements in support services for MLL families Coordinate MLL data collection and record keeping Support assessment of MLL students Educate MLL families in understanding how the schools and district operates, as well as the rights and responsibilities of parents under federal and state laws Service as a contact for parents / guardians to call with questions or concerns about school programs, specific activities and events. Experience needed : Must be bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) Experience working in a cross-cultural environment; (experience delivering direct service to immigrant families preferred) Experience developing and implementing programs or projects Experience with networking and outreach Experience in group facilitation Skills : Strong written and verbal English communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong time management and organization skills Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds Ability to collect, organize, and maintain data and information for reporting purposes Proficiency in Google Apps, Email and Online Calendar
