Job Description
Smiths Detection is currently seeking a Associate/Junior Manufacturing Engineer that will specialize in production and test equipment. This Engineer is responsible for manufacturing engineering activities related to the development and maintenance of production and test equipment, both in house and at vendor locations. This role will also be involved in handling day to day production issues, corrective and preventative actions related to manufacturing non-conformances / issues, documentation, cost reduction, interface with engineering, quality, product management and, service, and training of manufacturing personnel. Supports LEAN culture focusing on standardization, quality, performance and increased throughput.
Job duties to include but are not limited to;
- Design, develop and implement production equipment (hardware and software) to improve productivity, quality, equipment performance, energy consumption and reduce downtime
- Provide technical expertise on for electrical and mechanical control systems within the products produced.
- Design, develop and implement test fixtures to support production as required
- Creating and maintaining procedures, processes, and specifications
- Supporting MRB and Quality and perform root-cause analysis for defects, internal and supplier oriented. Goal is scrap reduction
- Providing training to Operations personnel
- Other duties assigned.
Qualifications
Education: BS in Engineering or Science, experience in lieu of degree considered.
Experience: 0 to 3 years of experience OR 3 to 8 years of experience in lieu of degree as a manufacturing engineer.
Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge or experience diagnosing network and Ethernet issues
- Knowledge or experience using contemporary design software (3D and 2D) such as Solid Works, NX, etc.
- Experience with the Microsoft Office software suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Experience working in teams to accomplish successful completion of goals

Additional Information
The compensation for this position ranges from $42,372.00 - $98,866.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
