Job Description
The key purpose of the role is to provide procurement expertise to the business across all divisional sites within the region, to ensure that all purchases of 3rd party indirect goods and services: This profile will have specific focus on Smiths sites located in the Americas while supporting procurement activities in the entire global region, to ensure that all 3rd party indirect purchases and requirements:
- Deliver maximum cost value, risk management and competitive advantage to the business
- Ensure discipline around Procurement process adherence
- Develop stakeholder relationships
- Act as first line of triage for Procurement activities (Sourcing team or Category Management)
Align to Procurement best practice, processes and company policies, providing efficient and effective service to end-users
Company-wide responsibilities:
- Understand Procurement's global and regional strategies and how the role impacts it
- Assist in the execution and management of the key procurement processes, policies, and systems, to ensure compliance to Smiths procurement and business policies
Procurement responsibilities:
- Ensure that all business requests for the sourcing and supply of 3rd party Indirect goods and services within the specified region:
- Follow existing procurement global category strategies and approved suppliers
- Fully support development of regional sourcing team strategy
- Are sourced and negotiated in line with Smiths sourcing processes and policies.
- Support resolution of local issues and escalation to Regional Sourcing Team manager
- Ensure transparency, accuracy and consistency of data in the Smiths Procurement System (PAT, SRM, Spend,…)
- Identify consolidation opportunities and partner with category management for assessment
- Liaise with procurement operations for contract handoff
- Build strong and efficient relationships with new and existing stakeholders and suppliers
- Collaborate & coordinate with internal stakeholders to develop requirements and find opportunities
- Generate savings for Americas region and maintain them in the Smiths Procurement system
- Participate in creation, development and implementation of regional category strategy
- Contribute to Standardization of Procurement processes, documentations, tools and systems to improve efficiency and transparency
- Increase spend under management via improvement of number of contracts signed within spend range 10k – 100k
- Approve new supplier onboarding with agreement of Category Manager (if needed)
- Prepare and implement tenders based on stakeholder’s requirements
- Define the panel of suppliers to be consulted as aligned with global category strategy
- Launch RFP and conduct price negotiations with external suppliers using Smiths Procurement tools
- Perform Analysis of Alternatives
- Prepare and present executive summaries, recommendations and communications to stakeholders, external suppliers and internal partners
- Work closely with internal business partners and legal team to create appropriate contract with the selected supplier; upload fully executed contract into procurement system
- Engage with suppliers on Ecovadis sustainability journey
- Recognize continuous improvement opportunities and engage with Group Indirect Procurement
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience, ideally in Indirect Procurement, in an international company
- Experience in complex sourcing projects
- Experience in a manufacturing company with global presence preferred
- Experience in IT hardware and software negotiations will be a plus
- Able to develop and execute supplier negotiation plans
- Able to use data to create insight and drive effective decision making
- Strong written and oral communication skills to understand the business needs
- Highly organized, and comfortable in prioritizing the work activities
- Fluent in English with an International mind set
- Conversational standard second language in Spanish would be beneficial but not required
- Self-motivated and experienced working with cross-functional teams
- Strong adaptability to organizational, structural and cultural changes
Experienced in creating and delivering executive summaries to all levels (peers through C-suite)
Salary Range $80,000 — 90,000 USD
