PART TIME POSITION
MAPLE ELEMENTARY
4 HOURS PER DAY / 7:00AM - 8:45AM & 3:15PM - 5:00PM
The job of Preschool Aide is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the educational process by maintaining an orderly, safe and positive environment by helping supervise students.
This job reports to Director of Special Services.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all policies, procedures for the purpose of student
- Carry through with the rules established by principal for the purpose of consistency and ensuring a safe environment for all
- Inform principal of any serious problems arising at before/after school care for the purpose of ensuring a safe environment for all
- Maintain a pleasant and positive attitude with all students for the purpose of ensuring an orderly, safe and positive environment for all
- Notify principal of serious accidents at before/after school care and complete all necessary forms for reporting student accidents for the purpose of ensuring a safe environment for all students and to comply with policies and
- Notify parents/guardians on matter that require immediate medical attention for the purpose of ensuring a safe environment for all
- Supervise students during before/after school care for the purpose of ensuring a safe environment for all
- Understand individual health plans and communicate with nurse on an as needed basis for the purpose of ensuring safety of all
- Communicates with educators, students, staff (e.g. reinforcing student learning and performance expectation established by staff members, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing objectives, and maintaining necessary confidentiality.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships (e.g. parents, Educator, and other service providers and agencies, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining effective working relationships.
- Implements, under the supervision of assigned educator, instructional programs for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
- Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reference, providing a safe learning environment.
- Monitors and supervises individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. classroom, playground, library, lunchroom, loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform single tasks Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices and procedures; administering first aid.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: age appropriate activities/behaviors; concepts of grammar and punctuation; cultural differences of student population; health standards and hazards; job-related codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; school safety and security practices; stages of child development.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 0% sitting, 50% walking, and 50% standing.
Experience: Job related experience is desired.
Education: Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area. Associates degree or 60 hours of higher education; or successful completion of the Paraprofessional Missouri Educator Gateway Assessment (MEGA).
