A lawn care worker is responsible for maintaining the health and appearance of residential or commercial lawns by performing tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, applying fertilizers and pesticides, aerating, seeding, and removing debris, often using power equipment like mowers, trimmers, blowers, and sprayers, while adhering to safety protocols and client specifications; they may also perform basic landscaping tasks like planting flowers and shrubs depending on the role.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Lawn mowing: Operating lawn mowers to cut grass to the desired height across the lawn.
- Trimming and edging: Using trimmers to trim around obstacles and along edges of the lawn for a clean finish.
- Weed control: Manually pulling weeds or applying herbicides to eliminate unwanted vegetation.
- Fertilizing and pest management: Applying fertilizers and pest control treatments as needed to maintain healthy lawn growth.
- Aeration and seeding: Performing aeration to improve soil quality and seeding bare patches to promote new grass growth.
- Debris removal: Clearing leaves, clippings, and other debris from the lawn using a blower or rake.
- Shrub and tree trimming: Pruning and shaping shrubs and small trees as required.
- Maintaining equipment: Cleaning, inspecting, and performing basic maintenance on lawn care tools.
- Customer interaction: Communicating with clients to understand their needs and address any concerns regarding lawn care services.
