Education Advisor
Smoky Hill Education Service Center is seeking candidates for an Education Advisor for the GED program at the Topeka Correctional Facility in Topeka, KS.
Position Overview
We are seeking a hardworking and energetic person to join our team as an Education Advisor. The Education Advisor will be responsible for assisting classroom teachers with education duties as part of a GED (General Educational Development) program within the Topeka Correctional Facility. This position will proctor the GED testing at the facility. The successful candidate will be motivated and hardworking and foster a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment that encourages academic success and personal growth.
Position Responsibilities Include:
· Assisting the classroom teacher with classroom management.
· Working with students from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of abilities.
· Providing general support and assistance during classroom activities.
· Proctoring for GED testing.
· Performing other duties as assigned by the school’s leadership team.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma
· Ability to work well with students of all abilities and backgrounds
· Proficiency using technology as an educational tool; training available
· Ability to work well as part of a team in a rewarding and exciting environment
· GED test proctor experience preferred
· Ability to work both independently and effectively as a member of a team
· Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff members and students
· Strong aptitude for learning new skills and implementing new educational practices
· Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
· Strong interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills
· Production of accurate work with attention to detail within time constraints
Additional Requirements:
· Proficiency in the use and operation of technology as an educational, communication, and recordkeeping tool
· Must pass a background check
· Pass security clearance requirements for a correctional facility
· Willingness to undergo facility-specific training and to adhere to all institutional policies
