What are the responsibilities and job description for the One Full /one part time exotic animal keeper position at Smoky Mountain zoo south?
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate exotic animal keepers to join our team ,The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and handling, along with a genuine love for wildlife.
Duties:
- Provide daily care for a variety of zoo animals, including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring behavior.
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, behavior, and diet.
- Ensure animal enclosures are clean, safe, and enriching environments.
- Participate in animal enrichment activities to promote physical and mental well-being.
-we are looking to hire one full-time exotic animal keeper (7am-1pm 5 days a week /more hours available if wanted ) and one part-time exotic animal keeper (7am-1pm 2 days a week/more hours available if wanted) our facility is a USDA certified facility located in Okeechobee, FL 34972.

As I stated above, we are a USDA certified facility meaning we are held to higher standards. Our facility must remain spotless at any given time. Our animals deserve the best care possible and nothing less ,so if you do not have or are able to perform the skills needed or wanted that will be listed below you do not qualify for the position.
-you must have a reliable form of transportation of your own
-You must be over the age of 18 years old
-You must have animal experience( exotic animal experience, and husbandry is a huge plus !)
-You must provide a resume with contact information from your previous employer we will be contacting them

-You must be detail oriented/organized
JOB DETAILS
-you will be caring for a very large collection of squirrel monkeys, and capuchin monkeys
- You need to know how to operate and use a pressure washer correctly
- You need to know how to use a broom/dustpan/wheelbarrow
- You need to be comfortable using a knife and restaurant grade food chopper as you will be cutting up 16 1/2 gallons worth of fruit and vegetables every single day we feed our animals and extremely high-quality diet
- We also have a large number of chickens on the property that you must be comfortable caring for as well
- This job is strenuous at times and you are on your feet the whole time , sometimes lifting heavy objects,cleaning and pressure washing , scrubbing bowls/surfaces so you must be fit and able to keep up with the needs of the job
