Product Specialist, Cokemaking (Multiple Openings)
SMS group Inc. seeks Full Product Specialists, Cokemaking to work in Pittsburgh, PA, and be responsible for leading the technical support and service of SMS’ technology and equipment, specifically with regard to Cokemaking Products. Specific duties include: (i) analyzing operational metrics of SMS’ Cokemaking technology and equipment; (ii) providing clients with technical support through RFQ’s related to Cokemaking products and assisting in preparing of the final proposal to the customers; (iii) commissioning and implementing Cokemaking technology and equipment; (iv) assessing Cokemaking technology and equipment, identifying issues and triaging engineering/technological issues; (v) supporting Cokemaking products maintenance activities and conducting developmental research; (vi) leading technological/engineering improvements, modifications, additions and/or enhancements for improved alignment with industry needs and customer specifications; (vii) conducting hardware configuration and instrument calibrations; (viii) analyzing operational engineering metrics and supporting escalations as well as conducting technical testing; (ix) leading technical interface with customers to assist in any operational questions that arise; and (x) reviewing and revising work practices and procedures to maximize quality and efficiency levels of the SMS Cokemaking technology and equipment.
Must possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Metallurgical Engineering or a directly-related field, AND at least three (3) years of experience in a metallurgical engineering role for Cokemaking. Experience must include at least one (1) year of experience working with each of the following: (i) Cokemaking Processes (including: production benefits and yield improvements); (ii) Cokemaking Equipment Requirements (for at least two of the following: bracing system providing tightness to the Battery, Coke Oven Doors and Frames for proper oven closure; refractory qualities and applications; Coke Oven Gas System; SOPRECO® System; and/or Movable Machines features for charging and discharging of the ovens); (iii) Industrial safety requirements (including: Equipment, Chemical, and Gas Safety knowledge); (iv) Proceed & automation engineering design; and (v) Equipment performance and safety requirements (for at least two of the following: CokeXpert® level 2 automation tool for process optimization; Heating System with safety system for gas shortage; control of Movable Machines; and/or Movable Machines positioning system for correct and accurate positioning in front of ovens). Experience can be concurrent.
Must be able and willing to travel domestically up to 15% to various unanticipated client locations.
