Position Overview: As a Test Technician II at SMTC, you would be responsible for supporting functional and/or in-circuit test fixtures. Technical resource for production required to have thorough knowledge of all products, subassemblies, hardware and test processes for assigned customers
Duties:
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, mechanical and assembly drawings.
- Familiarity with basic circuit analysis techniques (KVL, KCL, Ohm's Law).
- Capable of applying electronics theory to test and troubleshoot electronics.
- Familiarity with common electronics testing equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, power supplies).
- Utilize routine test or diagnostic equipment. Ability to learn and use software tools, with supervision.
- Familiarity with navigating Windows.
- Ability to follow written and verbal engineering instructions, including test procedures, with supervision.
- Receptive to mentoring from peers in technical community. Participates in developing new approaches and techniques to achieve continuous improvement in all work processes.
- Work independently or in a team environment, with supervision.
- Self-starter.
- Strong technical, analytical and critical thinking / reasoning skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to support production schedule requiring working overtime hours and alternate shift hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience for the Test Technician II:
- High school Diploma or G.E.D. required
- Associates or equivalent in electronics or electrical/electronic technology preferred
- Electronics Technicians Association Certification a plus
- Experience in the commercial / electronics market is a plus.
- General instrumentation hardware and software knowledge.
- Experience with environmental chamber operation and support.
- Experience with vibration table operation and support.
- Experience with ATE operation and support.
- IPC 610 certification a plus.
- Soldering experience/IPC7711/7721 certification.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while operating testing equipment and reviewing technical documents.
- Regularly moves within the production floor to support testing activities and access test fixtures or equipment.
- Frequently operates and adjusts test equipment, including DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and ATE systems.
- Occasionally positions self to access and troubleshoot equipment at varying heights.
- Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors to provide updates and resolve testing issues.
- Occasionally moves and transports tools, components, or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
