Smug's Pizza is a small locally owned take-out pizza joint in Arcata, CA. Our goal is to provide a quality product and foster positive interactions between our team and the public.
Responsibilities:
- Performing many different tasks over the course of a shift, including money handling, customer service, food handling and preparation, and various cleaning tasks, including washing dishes
- Meeting store operating policies and standards
- Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs

Compensation:
Pay typically begins at the beginning of the pay scale (plus tips). Pay increases when accepting additional responsibility and as employees stay on with the business long term. Employees are provided with a free meal per shift and an employee discount. Opportunities for advancement may be available to those who are interested in working with the business in the long term and perform well in this entry-level position.
Shifts/Hours Available:
This position is part time only and is unlikely to become a full-time position in the future. A variety of shifts could be available throughout the week, so be sure to indicate when you are able to work when filling out the application. At least one of the available shifts will be on Mondays, and priority will be given to applicants who are consistently available during weekends. More hours could become available in the future, especially if applicants can be flexible with their schedules.
Evening shifts generally begin around 4:00 PM and last until after the store closes. Morning shifts generally begin around 11:00 AM. Shifts typically last between 4 and 6 hours but may be as long as 8 hours.
What We Are Looking For:
Since this is an entry-level Crew Member position, prior work experience, while welcome, is not necessary; we will give you the training you need for the shifts that you are available to work. California state law requires food service workers to have a Food Handler's Certification, so applicants should either already have a valid Food Handler's Certification or be prepared to get one within 30 days of beginning work. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.
