What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corrugator Stacker position at Smurfit Kappa North America?
The Production - Bottom Stacker Operator works on the Production floor responsible for stack corrugated off machines by stacking bundled corrugated boxes, prepares bottom sheets, prepares load tags, and observes quality of product.
Primary Duties
- May be assigned to other projects and duties
- Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.
- Works under the instruction of the Slitter Operator.
- Become familiar with and utilize software designed to increase safety, productivity, and waste reduction (COPAR, QMS, SAP, KIWI, ACS, etc).
- Responsible for correctly performing necessary quality checks and documenting in QMS.
- Responsible for the final quality checks on all orders.
- Properly identifies orders by marking the correct MFO number ON ALL STACKS of board.
- Operates the control panels for the down stacker.
- Makes designated quality checks on all orders including checks for multiple outs.
- Reports any non-conforming specifications to the Slitter Operator.
- Takes immediate and accurate corrective actions to reduce downtime cause by the down stackers.
- Learns and utilizes the ACS software to send orders to designated WIP lines.
- Communicates with WIP Operator to ensure assigned lines are available and when additional line space is needed to complete an order.
- Discards any waste generated from paper changes as well as any defects observed throughout the run.
- Operate transfer car to move corrugated stock to storage lines.
- Clean assigned area as needed to maintain housekeeping standards.
- Stack bundled corrugated boxes in proper style bale and per instructions on job tickets
- Prepare load tags per instructions and attach to loads
- Understand pallet identification and load count
- Observe quality guidelines.
- Push/pull bales of corrugated on conveyors
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping
- Assist as needed in all areas of production and perform other duties as assigned
- Perform data entry into terminal / PC.
Job Qualifications
- A minimum one-year manufacturing and production experience, preferred
- Ability to use a computer to read and understand instructions and input data as needed
- Ability to follow and interpret written instructions
- Comply with all company policies including safety and maintaining good housekeeping practices
- Able to perform long hours of repetitious work
- Able to withstand varying degrees of humidity and heat in the summer on production floor and cold in the winter months
