What are the responsibilities and job description for the 125 Helper position at Smurfit Kappa?
The Production - 1st Helper 125 is responsible for monitoring board quality, accurately set up die cut and feed sections. This is a 3rd Shift position (11:00pm-7:00am).
Primary Duties
- Accurately set up die cut and feed sections on the die cutters.
- Ensure all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured
- Check anilox rolls for damage
- Make accurate set-ups
- Monitor board quality, including-loose liner, warp, dimensions, caliper and any other defects
- Report any machine problems or board quality problems to the operator and sort as necessary to keep the machine running
- Work at a pace set by the machine operator and help assist operator in other duties
- Be willing to cross-train on other machines as necessary and move up the line of progression to operator regardless of shift
- Assist in keeping area clean and organized, this includes keeping sheets off the floor
- Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs
- Perform each task in a manner which prevents bodily injury, equipment and product damage
- Use proper lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending techniques
- Observe all safety and health guidelines
- Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Able to speak, read, comprehend, and write legibly in English
- Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy
- Must be able to read and follow instructions on factory masters
- Must be a qualified Stacker
- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry, preferred
- Prior work experience as a Bundler, preferred
- The candidate must be able to assume the following, preferred
