Job Summary
The Pre-Press Manager is the individual responsible for making sure that all tooling in the plant meets or exceeds SWR Scientific Tooling Specifications, is accurate and will meet or exceed the customers' expectation, is available at the machine center prior to the production run, and that operators understand the proper care and use of the tooling. Acts as the liaison between Design, Customer Service, Scheduling, and Sales to facilitate an expedited New Item Review Process. Leads an Order Readiness team that operates 24 hours a day. Insures the team is capable of reviewing all tooling after use to verify it is still within specification and to make repairs when issues are identified. Insures there is no downtime at the machine centers associated with tooling, ink, or inaccurate data/information.
Primary Duties
Manages 3 Tooling Coordinators and an Ink Technician (the Order Readiness Team) operating 24 hours a day, 5 days a week (occasionally on the weekend) to insure tooling readiness, tooling repair, and all the correct tooling is at the machine centers prior to the production run.
Leads the Order Readiness Team and evaluate their performance, insures their safety and facilitates their ability to meet and exceed the manufacturing plant expectations.
Manages the obsolescence of tooling and coordinates directly with customer service and sales to insure tooling is correctly stored, available when required for manufacturing runs, and removed/destroyed when obsolete.
Works directly with tooling suppliers to insure timely delivery, quality of tooling delivered, pricing, and manages the relationship to improve overall tooling costs. Orders all tooling (Printing Plates and Cutting Dies) for the plant and oversees the ordering of ink for the plant.
Works with the T&OE team to engineer the Scientific Tooling Specifications and to roll out those engineered specifications with all tooling suppliers. Insures that the tooling suppliers understand the specifications and that they make SK tooling per these engineered standards.
Manages the New Item Process and serves as the single point of contact for Sales, Customer Service, Design and the Manufacturing plant to route all items to the correct machine centers, insures all data is provided and accurate prior to tooling being ordered. Works to identify gaps in the process and using basic engineering tools is able to reduce the lead time for new item development as well as clarifying the New Item process roadmap.
Serves as the Liaison between Customer Service, Scheduling, Production, Design and Sales.
Checks in all new tooling to make sure that it meets SK Engineered standards, is accurate, and that all information such as print cards, proofs, die cut knock outs are present. Notifies Scheduling and Customer Service when new tooling has been checked in and is ready for service.

Salary : $59,000 - $101,000
