SMX is seeking an experienced Network Engineer (SME) to join our team supporting mission-critical infrastructure and network modernization efforts for a Federal Law Enforcement Agency. This individual will design and maintain secure, scalable network architectures and provide expert-level technical leadership across multiple project assignments. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and can seamlessly collaborate with cross-functional technical teams. This position is supporting a Clarksburg, WV customer and requires a Top-Secret clearance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and optimize new and existing network solutions for operational efficiency.
Establish and maintain computer networks using existing infrastructure, ensuring high availability.
Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide long-term resolutions.
Maintain network security and ensure data protection protocols are followed.
Create and maintain detailed documentation of network configurations and procedures.
Replace and upgrade faulty network hardware and components as necessary.
Coordinate with leadership to assess and plan for future network needs.
Provide technical support and guidance to users and project teams.
Contribute to the development of enterprise network strategies and policies.
Function as a subject matter expert (SME) across multiple concurrent assignments.
Required Skills / Experience:
5–10 years of hands-on experience in two or more of the following: software requirements, operational requirements, installation, test and evaluation, advanced system architecture, or training.
CCNP or related certifications in Routing/Switching/Networking for Cisco.
At least one of the following: Windows/Linux OS, F5 Load Balancing, Palo Alto Firewalls, MS SQL, Active Directory, or SPLUNK.
In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of relevant experience.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Proven leadership in agile environments (Scrum, XP, Kanban, SAFe).
Excellent communication skills with attention to detail.
Proven ability to work collaboratively on complex projects.
Active Top-Secret Clearance.
Desired Skills / Experience:
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
Salary : $115,000 - $191,000
