Network Technician (4112)

SMX is looking for a highly motivated Network Specialist with experience troubleshooting and resolving networking issues. This role will be onsite in Quantico, VA.

The Network Specialist will work in a challenging environment that will provide strong technical growth and the ability to have a direct impact on the success of the customer’s Operational units. This is a full-time Network Specialist position to provide Network Administration and Quality Assurance support to the client's Operational Forces Coordinator position. The Operational Coordinator’s mission is to provide leadership, technical guidance, training, and remote support to units deployed or preparing to deploy as required. When needed, the Operational Coordinator leverages additional technical experts internal and external in order to ensure deployed unit issues with Data Network, Information Systems, and Cybersecurity are swiftly resolved. Systems being supported include, but are not limited to: Routing, switching, VOIP, Active Directory, DNS, HBSS, ACAS, Virtualization, Web Proxy and Firewalls.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide technical assistance during the planning phases of various deployments/exercises and coordinate swift solutions to networking and data system problems during the execution phases.
• Review and report daily on status of all Tactical Extension (TE) on-prem Enterprise Service Virtual Machine Suites to ensure connectivity.
• Coordinate with Client Sections and Operational forces to provision, build, and vMotion Virtual Machines from Base Datacenters to Local Unit Hardware in support of (ISO) deployments/exercises.
• Coordinate troubleshooting efforts between the Enterprise Network Operations Center, Naval Network Operations Centers, and other client Sections, as necessary, for Operational forces on the employment of data communications systems and services to include Routing, Switching, Firewalls, Microsoft Exchange, and Active Directory.
• Maintain records of all active and future deployed networks, ensuring exercise details, and related point of contacts for current and future operations are accurate.
• Maintain and patch Enterprise Operations Division’s Persistent Training Network (PTN), consisting of routers, switches, and servers.
• Monitor Tactical Entry Point (TEP) VPN Gateways and all tactical Remote Kits connected via IPSec VPN tunnels and ensure proper routing and reachability to MCEN Services.
• Check configurations for validity, accuracy, and completeness utilizing approved configuration change sources such as trouble tickets, Requests for Modification (RFM) and change requests.
• Check router, switch, and firewall configurations for non-approved variances from the standard or baseline configuration of the device type to ensure proper security hardening and cyber security best practices. All discrepancies (as defined by Client procedures and policies) discovered shall be documented in a Configuration Discrepancy Report and investigated.
• Review deployed unit Authority to Operate / Authority to Connect (ATO/ATC) requests and supporting Certification and Accreditation in accordance with Client Directives and the Deployed Support SOP.
• Review unit deployed network/exercise diagrams and coordinated required changes and updates needed within the units Accreditation Package in order to obtain Approving Official approvals.
• Ensure no deployed IP network conflicts exists, validate and/or coordinate required DNS changes are in place to support the exercise/deployment.
• Maintain, patch, and update the internal Deployed Support SharePoint website.
  
  

Required Skills & Experience:

• Clearance Required: Secret
• 3 years of networking experience
• Demonstrated hands-on experience troubleshooting and resolving a variety of technical problems
• IAT Level II certification (CCNA Security, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, Security CE, CND, or SSCP)

The proposed salary for this position is:

$71,600—$119,400 USD
