As a Seamer Operator and member of the Print Finishing Team you will help bring our customers' package labels to life, enabling them to stand out over the competition, and create a customer experience that is second to none. Compensation for Seamer Operator will be based on the skills and experiences you bring to Smyth
SHIFTS AVAILABLE : 5 : 00am – 5 : 15pm, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (36.75 hours)
Overtime is paid after 40 hours; typical OT available is at least one shift per month
Key Responsibilities for Seamer Operator include :
Setting up, running, and maintaining seaming machines in an efficient and timely mannerCarefully and thoroughly inspecting completed labels for errors and defectsIdentifying, recommending, and implementing areas for Lean improvement / modificationPerforming work based on finishing spec sheet and priorities assigned by the Finishing Lead / SupervisorPreparing and maintaining appropriate documentation for assigned finishing tasksPerforming preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability finishing equipmentThe ideal Seamer Operator candidate must demonstrate :
Attention to detail, effective time management, and multi-tasking skills to meet deadlines on multiple long and short-term projects simultaneouslyAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, as well as read a rulerSelf-motivation, being able to work with little supervision at timesExcellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with a diverse group of people and personalitiesAbility to provide a high level of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organizationEducation, Skills, and Experience for Seamer Operator :
Required : High school diploma or equivalentRequired : Can perform heavy work, lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent pushing and pulling heavy items, often lifting / carrying objects weighing up to 25 poundsRequired : Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in the English languagePreferred : One or more years of related flexographic printing experienceA Plus : Experience working with lean manufacturing
