SNA International seeks a bright, collaborative Safety Officer with a strong work ethic to join the team at Armed Forces Medical Examiner’s System in Dover, DE. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Experience in medical readiness, to facilitate the development of the AFMES Readiness
- Platform.
- Provide guidance, direction, and development of AFMES Readiness platform into the Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES), Time Phased Force Deployment Data (TPFDD) and other data that is used in the employment, mobilization, deployment, redeployment, and demobilization of AFMES assets.
- Expertise in laboratory occupational safety and compliance to assist with technical and administrative support to the AFMES safety manager.
- Run the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals.
- Work with Divisional assets to develop their GHS system and will serve as the SME to develop GHS labels for each laboratory based on the classification of health, physical and environmental hazards as well as providing what information should be included on labels of hazardous chemicals as well as safety data sheets.
- Ensure all laboratory spaces in compliance with GHS labels within 18 months of award of the contract and will be responsible for maintaining GHS compliance.
- Oversee the regulated medical waste collection and hazardous chemical collection points in the AFMES to include: inspection of main and satellite collection points, proper labeling of waste containers in main collection points, and coordination of all chemical and regulated medical waste disposal pickups.
- Assist in initiating and carrying out safety education activities promoting safety awareness through seminars, training courses, and participates in preparing brochures and newsletters, explaining safety procedures and practices.
- Responsible for inspecting worksites, environmental conditions, machine and equipment operations, protective devices and equipment, work practices, and safety procedures.
- Assists in recording violation of standards for use of evidence of existing hazards and in recommending abatement/mitigation measures for hazards.
- Assist in initiating, formulating policies and procedures on safety and health issues.
- Assist in conducting safety, environmental and lab safety inspections at the AFMES and assists in preparing supplemental written safety procedures for application to division organizational components.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with safety and occupational health regulations including Biological Safety, Morgue Safety, Accident and Mishap Reporting, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Personal Protective Equipment, Radiation Protection, Ergonomics, Control of Hazardous Energy, Confined Space Program, Bloodborne Pathogens Program, Regulated Medical Waste Program, Occupational and Reproductive Hazards, Indoor Air Quality, Occupational Health and Safety, Mental Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Safety, Wellness, Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste Program, Hazard Communication Program, Chemical Hygiene, Environmental Program and Visitor Safety
