Description of job : Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care through the intra-operative surgery phase. Assists physicians during surgery and procedures by functioning in a circulating role. Participates with other center team members to provide optimal patient care and efficient patient flow, taking into consideration the population-specific needs for patients at all stages of life.
Qualifications :
Graduate of accredited School of Nursing Required.
Minimum of 1 year Required : Related experience in a multi-specialty Operating Room, preferably in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center.
Required : Completion of an accredited OR training program.
Required : Registered Nurse in state of practice.
Required : Basic Life Support for healthcare providers.
Required : Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Required : Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Responsibilities :
Performs professional intra-operative nursing care for patients to ensure a caring patient experience.
Coordinates with other internal or external disciplines that are involved in providing patient care.
Reviews inventory and stock levels of equipment and supplies before any procedures.
Ensures patient safety and care through the coordination of surgical technologists and surgeons.
Ensures patient safety through transportation, transferring, and positioning.
Assists during patient induction and emergence.
Completes appropriate medical records documentation and responds to patient requests for care.
Evaluates outcomes and adjusts nursing care processes as necessary in consultation with other nursing staff and physicians.
Administers sedation analgesia under the direction of the attending physicians.
