Position Summary: The primary focus of this position will be to teach Snapology programs during our summer session.

Instructors are asked to promote creativity, teamwork and problem solving skills while educating students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for elementary aged students, although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism. Locations: While our center is located in North Chelmsford, this position is active for programs happening at our partner locations in towns such as Leominster, Fitchburg, Shirley, Sterling, Ayer, Acton, and Pepperell. Note that you may not be required to travel to all of these locations. We will work to place you close to your home!

Role & Responsibilities: Our main goal is that students are provided with a fun, enriching summer experience in a safe, supportive environment. To continue reaching this goal, you will be asked to:
  • Co-teach groups of up to 20 students through curriculum-guided engineering and/or robotics activities;
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures;
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology;
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies;
  • Check-in with Owner/Program Director as needed.
Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma is required plus a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate work. Education degree or teaching experience recommended, teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position.
  • Criminal and Child Clearances must be current (we can help you with these!)
  • 2 or more years of experience working with children in a classroom, camp, or similar environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
Pay: All Instructors will start at $22.50/hour for 40 hours per week ($900/week).

Dates: Programs run from June 23rd through August 22nd, though programs are limited for the weeks of June 23rd, June 30th, and August 18th. While we cannot accommodate daily requests for these positions (i.e., only working Monday, Tuesday), we can accommodate weekly requests (i.e., only working certain weeks of the summer)

Hours: Instructors can expect to be assigned an 8 hour shift. For Instructors assigned to work on-site in Chelmsford, shifts are generally either 7:35-3:35 or 8:50-4:50 each day. For our off-site programs, staff can expect to be on-site from approximately 8:15-4:15, depending on the location.

Training: All training on our curriculum and policies/procedures is provided. This will generally take place over two Saturday's in May or early June and will include your First Aid/CPR certification, if needed.

Additional Opportunities are available during the school year for interested staff. We run after-school programs in the area (typically 1.5-3 hours/day, after school) as well as week-long programs during April Break.
